Joyce Mayo

Joyce Mayo was born to a military family in South Carolina and grew up in Virginia. She has received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University. She also attended Norfolk State University, with a focus on early childhood education, where she received her teaching credentials. She taught in the public school system for over ten years and continues to volunteer her services for her community and church, including working in a shelter for abused women in Chesapeake, VA.

She is the author of “Abused and Abandoned”, “Too Late To Turn Back”, and “Love Guides Me”, all currently available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Her first children’s book, "A, E, I, O, U and Sometimes Y: The Short Vowel Friends", will be available in the spring of 2021. She plans to release a series of children’s books to encourage beginning readers with fun sounds and bright, funny characters.

Joyce spends her days gardening, writing, and enjoying retirement. She also advocates strongly for domestic violence awareness and support for war veterans.

Further information on how you can help someone suffering from abuse or PTSD is prominently showcased on the TaevoPublishing.com website. You can also find out more about her and her upcoming projects.

She currently lives a quiet life in eastern Virginia with her daughter – who is also her publisher – and her grandchildren.

Tunisha knows she’s beautiful. A lovely face coupled with a body that made men quiver with lust… what could possibly go wrong?

Being only 15 years old is the first problem. Being constantly mistaken for an adult is the second one.

Thinking her mature body compensates for her naiveté, she becomes involved with a 23-year-old Marine who harbors a secret that could be deadly.

Meanwhile, her two best friends, Mecca and Avalon, are trapped in horrific situations of their own. Avalon harbors a dark family secret – one that soon launches her down a dangerous path of self-abuse that could be deadly.

Meanwhile, Mecca has become the victim of the worst kind of emotional abuse – betrayed and attacked by the one person she always thought would protect her.

When Tunisia and her friends are pushed to a point where they have no one left to turn to, each must choose: life or death?

As Tunisia recounts her turbulent childhood to her own teenage daughter, the message about the dangers encountered during our youth emerges, and the truth becomes realized: those dangers don’t go away; they are merely passed on to the next generation.
