About The Author

Joyce Mayo

Joyce Mayo

Joyce Mayo was born to a military family in South Carolina and grew up in Virginia. She has received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University. She also attended Norfolk State University, with a focus on early childhood education, where she received her teaching credentials. She taught in the public school system for over ten years and continues to volunteer her services for her community and church, including working in a shelter for abused women in Chesapeake, VA.

She is the author of “Abused and Abandoned”, “Too Late To Turn Back”, and “Love Guides Me”, all currently available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Her first children’s book, "A, E, I, O, U and Sometimes Y: The Short Vowel Friends", will be available in the spring of 2021. She plans to release a series of children’s books to encourage beginning readers with fun sounds and bright, funny characters.

Joyce spends her days gardening, writing, and enjoying retirement. She also advocates strongly for domestic violence awareness and support for war veterans.

Further information on how you can help someone suffering from abuse or PTSD is prominently showcased on the TaevoPublishing.com website. You can also find out more about her and her upcoming projects.

She currently lives a quiet life in eastern Virginia with her daughter – who is also her publisher – and her grandchildren.

What happens after you leave an abuser? Does it immediately mean you’re safe and guaranteed a new start at life?

The saga of Tunisia and her best friends, Mecca and Avalon, continues as the three girls attempt to pick up the pieces and repair their lives.

Unfortunately, their former abusers continue to harass and torment them.

Mecca is struggling in rehab, Avalon battles thoughts of murder and revenge, and Tunisia is receiving violent, threatening letters from Dee, her ex-boyfriend. The memories of their pain continue to eat at them as they fight to overcome their inner hatred and grief.

In this compelling follow-up to the hit debut, “Abused and Abandoned”, a fully-grown Tunisia continues to advise her teenage daughter about the dangerous aftermaths that could follow an abusive relationship.

The perspective of the abuser is explored deeper, their own violent histories are revealed, and the truth about how to stop the cycle is finally confronted.
